DISCURSOS DE ALUNOS E PROFESSORES SOBRE O COMPROMETIMENTO DO ESTUDANTE NA EDUCAÇÃO PROFISSIONAL

Abstract
Successful student learning is related to several factors, among them, their responsibility as a student, which means their engagement in learning. This article is a qualitative study about the engagement of students in their learning process having the authors Catholico (2009), Cunha (2000), Felicetti and Morosini (2010) and Meirieu (1998) as a theoretical background. Most countries lack studies involving student engagement, researches focused on teacher responsibility are plentiful, however. This work was developed in the context of professional education at a Vocational Technical School in Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul. Accordingly, we analyzed and reflected on discourses of pupils and teachers about the engagement of students of Vocational Education. The engagement reflecting positively on the teaching and learning process was observed. Thus, this work points out the need for further discussion and perceptions on the engagement of students of Vocational Education. It is important that graduates of Vocational Education understand their role towards their learning, since they are the protagonists in the school context.
