Disinfection through the use of germicidal UV-C light in different media as a preventive strategy against COVID-19
Journal Title: Minerva Journal - Year 2020, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
In this work, criteria are presented that allow the estimation of disinfection parameters through the use of short wave UV-C light, in water, air and surfaces. Methods to evaluate the dosage as a function of the lamp power used are presented. This type of strategy allows results of up to 99.9% disinfection, inactivating different types of microorganisms. These references serve as a basis for the design of devices useful in the present emergency by COVID-19, whose origin, being viral, is susceptible to the same method of disinfection due to the process of DNA dimerization, where the damage produced in the cellular structure, affects the capacity of reproduction and functionality.
