Distribution of alien species of herbaceous plants in Polissya and possible threat for forestry
Journal Title: Лісівництво і агролісомеліорація - Year 2012, Vol 121, Issue
Abstract
Distribution of alien herbaceous plants, which are able to naturalize in natural ecosystems of Ukrainian Polissya, was analyzed. As a result of study of distribution of these species in forest ecosystems of Olevsk district of Zhytomyr region, their possible harmful consequence for forestry was assessed. Seven potentially dangerous plant species were identified, and its brief characteristic was given. It was shown that in some cases in forest clear-cuts and in unclosed forest plantations a few alien species grow together in large population number. They can negatively affect both on natural renewal of the main forest-forming tree species and on growth of unclosed forest plantations.
