Domestic Violence against Married Women in Bangladesh: An Analysis on Female Employees of Some NGOs

Abstract
None can think about the human generation as well as civilization without women. Women are the mother of human beings, mother of nations but they are facing serious problems like different types of violence, either physically or mentally throughout the world. In Bangladesh, women also face various forms of violence at their every sphere of lives especially in the rural areas. Thus to reduce violence is very crucial challenge for this country. The purpose of this study is to identify the level of domestic violence among female employees at the different NGO’s on different organizational level in Bangladesh. Frequency distribution and chi-square test have been performed using the data extracted from one hundred married female employees at the different NGOs in Bangladesh by purposive sampling technique. These have been used to explore the current situation of socio-demographic characteristics on domestic violence against women and finally, binary logistic regression analysis has been employed to estimate the existence relationships among the variables. In chi-square test, it is found that age, education, income, level of the present job of the employees and income of husband; and in logistic model, current place of living, level of present job and income of husband have significant effects on domestic violence. Evidently, 50% women were experienced domestic violence at different NGOs in Bangladesh. Thus, the authority as well as Government should implement proper policies to abate domestic violence from the every level of women’s lives.
