DRAMA-REMAKE: THEORETICAL REFLECTION, FEATURES OF FUNCTIONING, GENRE POETICS

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the most productive genre innovations in the world drama of the turn of the 20th - 21st centuries - a remake drama. The term “drama-remake” is used in such meaning: a retelling of the famous works as a main design principle of the new text, which orients the reader on recognition of classic plot in its new sceneries. Various approaches to the remake of contemporary literary critics have been analyzed. The problem of the genre boundaries of the remake is touched upon, in particular, the differentiation of the drama-remake and drama-processing. The specifics of the functioning of the drama-remake in various dramatic traditions and the features of the dialogue with the classical text are revealed. The main features of the genre poetics are characterized: explicit dialogue with the classics; Ironic attitude to the pretext; modernization of chronotope of classical text; giving to the original text a new content; paradoxical interpretation of the plot of the original works; contamination of the immutability of the images of the characters with changing external circumstances; reservation of possibility of reception of a new play in its connection with the classic original, and as an absolutely independent artistic work etc. The author of the article compares a remake and sequel and sees maintenance of well-known classic work.
