Drought stress effect on some phonological traits of advanced lines of bread wheat

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 9

Abstract

A test was done on 10 lines of bread wheat with completely randomized blocks and three replications in crop year 2009-2010 in the farm of Moghan Agricultural Research center- in order to investigate drought stress effect on some phonological traits of advanced lines of bread wheat under normal condition and conditions drought last season and they were compared with each other. The results of variance analysis of the studied traits in normal condition indicated a significant difference between the studied lines in plant height, ear length, length of spike, the number of spikelets and harvest index is at (p<.01). At (p<.05), this line in the traits of tiller number, grain weight per spike, seed weight and seed yield indicated a significant difference among the studied lines. The results of variance analysis in conditions drought last season showed that the studied numbers in the traits of plant height, ear length and spike length at (p<.01) and in the traits of fertile tiller number and grain yield at (p<.05) have a significant difference. The comparison of average traits showed that number 9 in both normal (3.8 ton per hectare) and drought stress (2.87 ton per hectare) conditions had the highest grain yield.
