“Dying Away From Home” 7 Syrian Patients' Death in Palliative Care Clinic and the Role of our Country in Meeting the Health Needs of Refugees

Abstract
Wars and internal conflicts cause irreparable destruction and mostly affect civilians. The impact of destruction is more pronounced for children, the elderly, and women, who are primarily in need of secondary persons. Currently, more than half of the world's asylum seekers are those who had to leave their country to save their lives in Syria. Displacement, which affects the society and individuals politically, socially, culturally and economically, also brings health problems. Refugees are among the most vulnerable and vulnerable groups in the health care system due to many reasons such as difficult living conditions, shelter, nutrition, violence and psychological trauma. The decrease in the comfort of life and the psychological destruction experienced by individuals who leave their living spaces forcibly increase the risk of chronic diseases such as infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and lung diseases. Hospitalizations in palliative care units due to these diseases are increasing and they receive health services in better conditions than living conditions in these clinics, but deaths occur according to the severity of their diseases. The Turkey provides asylum seekers with the best possible living conditions and the most comprehensive humanitarian assistance possible. It provides all health services to the refugees both in the camps and in the settlements where they live. These refugees also benefit from palliative care services when necessary. The aim of this study is to evaluate the asylum seeker patients who lost their lives in palliative clinics, especially as a result of cancer, diabetes and other chronic diseases, as well as to emphasize their support in the health care of our country.
