Dynamic Design of the Foundation of Reciprocating Machines for Offshore Installations in Persian Gulf
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2009, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
The installation of large and heavy reciprocating machines on offshore constructions demands specific requirements in the design of the foundation with respect to vibrations. Because the use of those piston engines implies high dynamic loads at the substructure of offshore systems, special measures are required. This paper shows how problems can be avoided by applying a detailed vibration engineering design. An offshore project in the Persian Gulf involving the installation of three heavy reciprocating mud pumps is taken as an example. It is demonstrated how vibration engineering aspects can be considered within a project at the very beginning. The developed installation concept and its specific technical implementation at the construction are part of this paper.

Effect of Impact Mass on Tool Vibration and Cutting Performance During Turning of Hardened AISI4340 Steel
A major apprehension in manufacturing industry is the tool vibration, which has considerable influence on productivity and production costs. The present investigation aims at developing impact mass for suppressing tool v...
Mathematical Formulation of Friction Pendulum System With Multiple Sliding Interfaces
The use of base isolation in developed countries has been recognized as a very effective method for upgrading the seismic resistance of the structures. The reduction in earthquake forces on a structure is achieved by add...
Aspects Concerning the Dynamic Behavior of a Rotor-Foundation System
The paper analyses the coupled vibrations of a rotor-foundation system, when the domain of the critical angular velocity is perturbed, which can lead to the damage of the shaft, by vibration of the gear, as well as of th...
An Analysis of the Dynamic Behavior of Circular Plates from a Damage Detection Perspective
This paper presents a study regarding the dynamics of thin circular plates, embedded on the circumference. A finite element analysis (FEA) as well as analytical investigations is performed, and the results in terms of fr...
