Abstract

Communication Activities as a Stimulus of Child’s Cognitive Activity The development of a child is associated with gradual establishment of relations with the surrounding world in the process of meeting own needs. Of course, the needs of a child are for his or her the main motivating factor. The way they are met has been presented by American psychologist Abraham Maslow in the form of an organized, hierarchic model (so called the pyramid of needs), in which the most basic level of needs must be met before progressing on to meet higher level of needs. This model does not include the importance of the primary and natural need of communication, without which it is impossible to develop relation with the surroundings and meet the many needs of a child. Communication is a specific form of an activity that acts as a catalyst for other activities. Through the development of communication activities it is possible to stimulate the child’s activity within the scope of meeting his or her cognitive needs. This article conducts ontological analysis of these issues.
