Earthquake Risk Assessment – Effect of a Seismic Event in a Moderate Seismic Area
Journal Title: Acta Technica Jaurinensis - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper presents the process of earthquake risk analysis from the probabilistic determination of seismic hazard and local site effects, through the evaluation of building vulnerability to an event resulting in seismic risk maps. These results can then serve as useful tools for decision makers and insurance companies, and can be applied directly to overall risk management plans of cities. Finally a case study for seismic risk assessment performed in city of Győr is presented, taking into account local site effects based on response analysis with more than 6000 realizations and rapid visual screening of 5000 building to obtain the seismic risk.

Parallel Numerical Creation of 2-parametric Bifurcation Diagram of Nonlinear Oscillators
This paper presents the numerical creation of 2-parametric bifurcation diagrams of nonlinear oscillators with a simple iterative algorithm, which can be easily parallelized. The parallel algorithm was tested with two sim...
Distinction of Road Categories by Road Users
In order to create self-explaining roads, a remarkable difference should exist between road categories, whereas within a given road category the layout should be homogenous. The paper analyses, how many and which road ca...
Queuing Models and Subspace Identification in Logistics
In modern logistics it might be helpful to describe the behavior of a complex logistical process as well as to determine the strength of relations between certain parameters of the system. In this paper a subspace identi...
Mechanical, Morphological and Thermal Characterization of Compatibilized Poly(lactic acid)/Thermoplastic Starch Blends
A two-step compounding procedure was used to produce binary blends composed of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and thermoplastic starch (TPS) with varying component ratios. Subsequently, three different chemical connectors wer...
Enhancing Traffic Safety with Mobile Applications
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have great potential and market on modern traffic environment. Technologies of the day enable the real-time data transfer and presentation for the actors in traffic and outside of...
