Economic modelling of the management of dredged marine sediments
Journal Title: Geology, Geophysics & Environment - Year 2016, Vol 42, Issue 3
Abstract
This paper presents an economic model developed to support the use and sustainable management of dredged marine sediments. The sustainable management of dredged sediments is a significant challenge for the international ports and harbours industry due to the large sediment volumes generated and its varying quality and characteristics. A general overview of the economic modelling approach applied is presented and model outputs including direct project costs and direct, indirect and induced economic impacts on GDP and Employment. A number of feasible sediment management techniques are identified for Ireland including land reclamation and wetland creation. The economic model has been applied to analyse the beneficial use technologies identified providing indicative economic results for Ireland.

Using on-line analyzers and RAC parameters to determine the amount of TN and TP pollutants discharged from Poland into the Baltic Sea
Despite the numerous measures taken to protect its environment for many years, Poland is among the top countries with the largest contributing share in the pollution of the Baltic Sea. It is undoubtedly the case that we...
Basic unit size in the analysis of the distribution of spatial landscape elements on the basis of the lithostratigraphic geodiversity of the Ojców National Park (Poland)
Spatial analyses of landscape element diversity are always carried out on the basis of a previously established analytical grid. It divides the research area into ‘n’ smaller areas – basic units before calculating variou...
Graph representation of geological stratum
Geology, geophysics and environmental protection sciences provide large amounts of data. These data can be stored in various structures. Most are data files, often they are constructed database. One of the first database...

δ13C variation in carbonate platform sediments of the Northern Tethys in Late Jurassic
Сarbon isotopic composition of Late Jurassic sediments displays a trend of 13 C depletion in the World ocean. Meanwhile, depending on local paleogeographical conditions, δ 13 C curves for different palaeoprovinces differ...
