ECOTOXICITY ASSESSMENT OF STABILIZED SEWAGE SLUDGE FROM MUNICIPAL SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 22
Abstract
Aim of this study was to evaluate the ecotoxicity of municipal sewage sludge conditioned with polyelectrolytes, taken from selected sewage treatment plant. Using the bioindication analysis overall toxicity was assessed, which allows to know the total toxicity of all the harmful substances contained in sewage sludge, in many cases acting synergistically. To prepare a sample of sludge for the basic test, all analyses were performed with a ratio of liquid to solid of 10:l (water extract), Daphnia pulex biological screening test was used. A dilution series of an water extract of sludge were prepared to include within its scope the lowest concentration that causes 100% effect and the highest producing less than 10% of the effect within a specified range of the assay. The results of the test were read after 24 and 48 hours. Based on the research and analysis of test results it proved that the sewage sludge conditioned with polyelectrolytes exhibit the characteristics of eco-toxic.

INTERNAL ROT DETECTION WITH THE USE OF LOW-FREQUENCY FLAW DETECTOR
The issue of rot detection in standing timber or stocked wood is very important in forest management. Rot flaw detection used for that purpose is represented by invasive and non-invasive devices. Non-invasive devices are...
INFLUENCE OF THE STATIC LOADING OF A RAFT UNCONNECTED TO A PILE ON THE PILE DISPLACEMENTS TESTED IN FIELD CONDITIONS
We present the results of a static pile-raft interaction test in field conditions. The pile and the raft were unconnected. The static loading on the raft affected the displacements of the pile due to the skin friction. T...
INVESTIGATION ON LOAD CAPACITY OF STEEL CONCRETE COMPOSITE COLUMNS SRC REINFORCED BY IPE
In this study, a column with section IPE and different lengths, completely embedded in concrete, is modelled by finite element software ABAQUS. Columns under different biaxial loading were used and graphs of axial force-...
Predicting bending moment in crown of soil-steel structure built as ecological crossing for animals
The paper concerns soil-metal structures made of a thin shell (usually - corrugated steel) and soil backfill. During backfilling significant deformations of the structure can be observed (the upper part of the shell buck...
Treatment of meat industry wastewater using coagulation and Fenton's reagent
The aim of the paper was to study meat industry wastewater treatment efficiency during chemical processes. The research was carried out in two steps. The first step was the coagulation process and the second step was the...
