EDUKACJA OBYWATELSKA – PODSTAWOWE UWARUNKOWANIA

Abstract
This article concerns the importance of considering context related to civic education in Poland. The very concept of citizenship, as well as the goals of civic education (education for / to democracy) are variously defined and interpreted. This is mainly due to the strong dependence of the important concepts of both time and place since they determine the configuration of historical, cultural and political perspectives. The first background analysis of the goals and objectives of civic education must be placed in the current social, political and economic context. The major challenges facing civic education include the tension between localism and globalism, the task of defining concepts, and formulas of modern patriotism. Using a pedagogical approach, the question of how within a civic education framework can community spirit and subjectivity be taught at the same time must be resolved.
