Effect of Aerobic Exercise Training on Body Composition Using Skin Fold Thickness

Journal Title: International Journal of Physiology - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 2

Abstract

Aim- Aim- aim of our study was to see the effect of aerobic exercise training on body composition. Objectiveseffect of aerobic exercise on skinfold thickness and % of body fat. Material and method- students between the ages 18 to 25 years under went treadmill aerobic exercise training for a period of 60 days (three days per week). Their biceps, triceps, calf skin folds, waist circumference, hip circumference all were recorded every 15 days and one month after detraining. Statistical analysis- repeated measures ANOVA of different parameters at different time interval during the exercise-training period with Bonferroni correction was used. Results-. There was a significant difference (p<0.0001) in the parameters like, Biceps, triceps and Calfskin fold over a period of exercise training of two months. % of body fat and BMI were decreased but not statistically significant. Conclusion- From our study we conclude that aerobic exercise training has a positive effect on body composition by reducing the skinfold thickness and also % of fat and BMI, possibly reducing the risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.
