Effect of Different Cropping System on Important Soil Enzyme Activity, Organic Carbon and Microbial Activity with Different Depth
Journal Title: International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences (IJCMAS) - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
The microbial and enzyme activities of the soil are closely related to the organic matter content and influenced by hydrothermal regimes of the soil. Keeping this in view, the study conducted that effect of different cropping systems on dehydrogenase, urease, acid and alkaline phosphatase activity and microbial population like bacteria, fungi and actinimycetes was evaluated from ˃ 20 year old cultivation under different cropping systems i.e., mango, cashew, vegetable, rose and medicinal and aromatic crops at different depths (0-15, 15-30, 30-50. 50-100 cm). From this study it was observed that, the mango and cashew showed significantly higher enzymes activity and microbial population at surface soil (0-15 cm) as compared to annual crops.

Efficacy of Organically Managed Cropping System in Improvement of Soil Health in Ne Hill Region
Field experiments were conducted during the kharif seasons of 2015 and 2016 to evaluate the efficacy of the organically managed cropping system in improvement of soil health in NE hill region. Four combinations of two cr...
Variation of Latent Heat Flux and Canopy Temperature over Potato Crop Governed by Soil Moisture
Considering the increased demand of water for agricultural sector estimation of evapo-transpirational (ET) losses becomes significantly important for its proper utilization. The latent energy flux (LE) can provide better...
Effect of Zinc Fertilizer Levels and Application Methods on Zinc Fractions and Grain Yield of Maize
Zinc deficiency in soil is induced due to soil micronutrient depletion from intensification of cultivation, application of high analysis NPK fertilizers and lesser use of organic manure. Among the various growth factors,...
Bioluminescence in Insect
Bioluminescence is defined as the emission of light from a living organism that performs some biological function. Bioluminescence is one of the oldest fields of scientific study almost dating from the first written reco...
Effect of Copper Contamination on Soil Biochemical Activity and Performance of Rice (Oryza sativa L.)
A pot culture experiment was carried out to determine the effect of soil contamination with CuSO4 5H2O in different concentrations on the activity of soil enzymes (Dehydrogenases, Urease, Acid and Alkaline Phosphatase) a...
