Effect of different protocols for applying a magnetic field (0.03T) on growth, viability and pigment composition of Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow in sufficiency and absence of nitrogen
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
The effect of a magnetic field (0.03T) on growth, cellular viability and pigments accumulation in Haematococcus pluvialis was studied in order to validate potentialities for market. Magnetic field favored growth and cellular division when applied in the exponential phase of growth, with a direct incidence on chlorophylls synthesis. Culture exposition to magnetic field; during 15 min or in a permanent way, favored to obtain maximum cellular densities and an appropriate cellular viability. Culture time was reduced as an advantage for commercial scaling processes. Magnetic field stimulated cellular growth of cultures in N-starvation conditions, offering evidences of a growth and viability modulation induced by stress.

Plant regeneration of a papaya hybrid (IBP 42-99) from callus obtained from plant apices in vitro
In Cuba there realizes innumerable efforts to increase the food production and especially the fruit trees Inside which the papaya has great importance. In this sense studies are realized to obtain plants resistant to vir...
Influence of phytotoxic metabolites of Altenaria porri (Ellis) Ciferri on plants and callus of Allium sativum L. with a view to plant breeding
In order to obtain phytotoxic metabolites from Alternaria porri and to know their influences on garlic plants and calli in plant breeding for resistanse to alternariosis, a research was carried out. Filtrates were obtai...
Micropropagation of the Cuban Papaya Hybrid IBP 42-99
This work consisted of developing a methodology to propagate papaya hybrids through in vitro culture. As plant material, lateral buds of plants of the hybrid IBP 42-99 were used. The explants were established following t...
