Effect of Increased BMI on Fetomaternal Outcome in Nulliparous Women Delivering Singleton Babies

Abstract

Aim: To study the effects of obesity on fetomaternal outcomes in nulliparous pregnant women. Materials and methods: 200pregnant women were taken for study who were divided into four groups based on their BMI and effects of obesity on fetomaternal outcomes were studied. Results: Incidence of abortion, pre eclampsia, eclampsia, GDM, caesarean section, PPH, wound sepsis, FGR, preterm labour, NICU admissions were more in obese women. Conclusions: In our study, obesity plays an important role in affecting fetomaternal outcome and hence fetomaternal outcome can be improved by decreasing the epidemic of obesity.
