Effect of morphine on activity of five selected lysosomal enzymes in liver and kidneys of mice
Journal Title: Animal Science Papers and Reports - Year 2011, Vol 29, Issue 2
Abstract
The experiment was carried out on 90 Swiss male mice divided into 9 groups (n=10). Over 4, 10 and 14 days mice of three control groups (I-III) were injected with 250 μl 0.9% NaCl solution daily, and those from six experimental groups (A-F) with 250 μl 0.9% NaCl solution containing 20 or 30 mg morphine hydrochloride per kg body weight. The injections were given intramuscularly once a day between 9:00-10:00 a.m. for 4, 10 and 14 days. In the lysosomal fraction of the liver and kidney the activities of acid phosphatase, lysosomal esterase, β-glucuronidase, β-galactosidase, and β-N-acetyl-hexosaminidase were estimated. Morphine increased the activity of all examined enzymes except EL, which activity was statistically proven to decrease in liver and kidneys after 10 days morphine administration in both doses.

The genetic relationship between reproduction traits and milk urea concentration
The aim of this research was to investigate the genetic relationship between reproduction traits and milk urea concentration (MU) during the first lactation of Polish Holstein-Friesian cows. The following reproduction tr...
The effect of mesenchymal stem cells as co-culture in in vitro nuclear maturation of ovine oocytes
This study compared the effects of ovine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and ovine oviductal epithelial cells (OECs) as feeder cells in cell free culture systems (HEPES-modified tissue culture medium, TCM199) supplemented...
Modelling lactation curve for fat to protein ratio in Holstein cows
The objective of this study was to examine seven mathematical models to evaluate their efficiency in describing the lactation curve for fat to protein ratio (FPR) in the first three lactations of Iranian Holsteins. Data...
Eighteen-carbon fatty acids in milk fat of Czech Fleckvieh and Holstein cows following feeding with fresh lucerne (Medicago sativa L.)
Changes in selected FAs level as influenced by inclusion of fresh lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) into a feeding ration were assesed in Czech Fleckvieh (dual purpose) and Holstein cows. Each of the balanced groups of 12 cow...
Selected performance parameters of Polish half-blooded mares
The study covered 89 Polish warm-blooded half-bred mares (51 representing Polish Noble Half- Breds, 23 Wielkopolski and 15 Małopolski horses) which went through a 60-day training (terminated with a performance test) at t...
