Effect of natural zeolite on reducing tissue bioaccumulation and cadmium antagonism related to some mineral micro- and macronutrients in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Abstract
Due to their interesting physico-chemical properties (i.e. cation-exchange capacity, adsorption, catalysis and dehydration), natural zeolites are useful in very different fields: agriculture, animal husbandry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, environmental protection (water, air and soil depollution). Ion-exchange capacity of zeolites consists in their ability to retain divalent cations such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Fe2+, Zn2+ from a contact solution, yielding to the solution an equivalent amount of an own cation (Na+). In this paper we have exploited this property of a zeolite (namely clinoptilolite) in an attempt to reduce Cd bioaccumulation in tissues of Prussian carp specimens under induced intoxication with cadmium acetate and Cd antagonism as against some essential micro- and macroelements - Fe2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ at the same species.

Fish faunal studies in the Körös river system
The species composition and structure of fish communities were studied in 15 sampling areas of the most important rivers of the Körös drainage system. In the paper, our results are compared with recent literature data on...
Deciphering the Galaxy Guppy phenotype.
Animal breeding hobbyists have been useful to science because they identify and isolate color coat mutations that geneticists can in turn use in their studies of the development and differentiation of color cells. This p...
Performance of a small-scale modular aquaponic system
Aquaponic systems aim to exploit the advantages of aquaculture and hydroponic systems. A reasonable fish production can be sustained and at the same time a wide range of green plants and vegetables will be beneffited fro...
The effect of vitamin C on growth factors, survival, reproduction and sex ratio in guppy (Poecilia reticulata).
This study was conducted to examine the effects of dietary vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid, AA) on growth factors, survival, reproductive performance and sex ratio in guppy (Poecilia reticulata Peters,1859). Guppies were divide...
Disease resistance effect of sea-buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) added in the fish diet.
In this paper, we approached a research theme regarding the effects of sea-buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides L. added in the diet the common carp Cyprinus carpio upon the disease resistance in case of the imminent disease o...
