Effect of natural zeolite on reducing tissue bioaccumulation and cadmium antagonism related to some mineral micro- and macronutrients in Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio).

Abstract
Due to their interesting physico-chemical properties (i.e. cation-exchange capacity, adsorption, catalysis and dehydration), natural zeolites are useful in very different fields: agriculture, animal husbandry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, environmental protection (water, air and soil depollution). Ion-exchange capacity of zeolites consists in their ability to retain divalent cations such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Fe2+, Zn2+ from a contact solution, yielding to the solution an equivalent amount of an own cation (Na+). In this paper we have exploited this property of a zeolite (namely clinoptilolite) in an attempt to reduce Cd bioaccumulation in tissues of Prussian carp specimens under induced intoxication with cadmium acetate and Cd antagonism as against some essential micro- and macroelements - Fe2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ at the same species.

Evolution of water quality in the Blue Lagoon from Aghireșu
The Blue Lagoon Lake is the result of anthropic activity in Aghires area, boeing Ander the action of natural factors, since the beginning. The area is rich in caolino quartz sands which were intensively exploited for a w...
The impact of level of the stocking density on the haematological parameters of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) reared in recirculating aquaculture system
Hematological indices are important parameters for the evaluation of fish physiological status. The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate how level of the stocking density influence the blood physiology of of j...
Morphological characteristics and variation of rudd Scardinius erytrophthalmus (L.) from the Łuknajno Lake, Poland.
A total of 49 specimens of the rudd, Scardinius erytrophthalmus, were caught in the Łuknajno Lake, in 2005. For each fish, 24 morphometric features of the body and 20 features of the skull were measured. Selected meristi...
The effect of fipronil on some reproduction parameters of zebrafish (Danio rerio)
Our research investigated the effects of fipronil on the reproduction dynamics and parameters of the zebrafish (Danio rerio). The experiment consisted in exposing ready to spawn fish and the spawn itself to three d...
Partial sequence of the genomic DNA from a Philippine isolate of the Penaeus monodon-type baculovirus (MBV) and comparison with other geographical isolate
Partial genomic DNA sequences of a Philippine isolate of the Penaeus monodon-type baculovirus (MBV) was identified. The two partial sequences of the MBV genomic DNA from the Philippines showed 100% homology at...
