Effect of Site Conditions on Damage to Structures during the Bam City Earthquake
Journal Title: Journal of Earth Sciences and Technology - Year 2020, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
In order to study effects of site conditions on damage to structures during an earthquake, an evaluation of geotechnical parameters and physicomechanical coefficients of shallow depth strata of Bam city, located in southeast of Iran, is accomplished. Seismic refraction and vertical seismic profiling (VSP) data are collected along the region. Acquired parameters are Vp/Vs, resonance amplification and quality factor (Q), and contour maps are plotted for each of them. These contour maps are compared with destruction maps of the Bam city earthquake in the region. This comparison reveals a good correlation between the destruction zone and the identified regions in this study.

Net to Gross Estimation of S-field Using Well-log and 3D Seismic Data: A Malay Basin Case Study
Net- to-gross (NTG or N/G) is a measure of sand or pay in the overall reservoir interval. It is used as one of the parameters for reserves calculation. In the conventional method, N/G is estimated from lithofacies model...
Application of Seismic Inversion to Build a Geological Static Model of X-Field Reservoir, Malaysia
The common problem that encounters by oil and gas companies is a high production of water cut due to ambiguity in litho-fluid separation, resulting in high uncertainties of the static model. In this paper, litho-fluid i...
Heat Flow Analysis and Overpressure Mechanism in a Field of Malay Basin
Heat flow analysis is very important for reconnaissance as well as for pre-drill pore pressure prediction to reduce drilling hazards. This paper describes the technique to analyze the heat flow and its relation with por...
Mapping the Concentrations of Total Suspended Sediment Using ALOS Data in Coastal Waters of Langkawi Island, Malaysia
Remote sensing method is a powerful tool for water quality monitoring and modeling via analyzing satellite images of a widespread area. This study presents the development of regression models for estimating and mapping...
A Novel Method in Hydrocarbon and Reservoir Properties Prediction Based on Elastic Properties
It is undeniable that hydrocarbon and reservoir properties are able to be identified and predicted exactly in well log locations. Outside the well, the hydrocarbon and reservoir properties prediction becomes more challe...
