EFFECT OF ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION ON THE VISCOSITY OF LUBRICATING OILS

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 239, Issue 5

Abstract

The article presents the study of viscosity changes of samples of mineral base oil, base oil with viscosity additive and engine oil after they have been exposed to UV-C radiation at different time sequences. The research indicates that exposure time changes the viscosity and viscosity index of the samples. It was considered that the presented method is suitable for comparative studies of the viscosity stability of lubricating oils.
