Effectiveness of free of charge public transport in cities

Abstract
Negative effects of increased mobility in urbanised areas comprise congestion, air pollution, noise, and accidents. Therefore an effective management of urban mobility becomes so important. An increasing public transport share in the servicing of transport needs is one of directions to make the mobility sustainable. This requires an increased competitiveness of the public transport. A free fare public transport (FFPT) is among numerous instruments serving this purpose. This paper is a continuation of author’s considerations on the FFPT referred to the Polish conditions.
