EFFECTS OF A. MELLIFICA EXTRACT ON THE HEMATOLOGICAL, BIOCHEMICAL, URINE AND HISTO-PATHOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF WHITE ALBINO RABBITS
Journal Title: International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 7, Issue 5
Abstract
Objective: To observe the effects of Apis mellifica extract on different hematology, biochemistry and histopathology parameters in rabbits for determining its safety and efficacy.Method: Hematological, biochemical investigations, urine analysis and histopathological studies were carried out on rabbits after the administration of the low dose of A. mellifica extract for a period of three months. Results: Our studies revealed gender wise difference in the result of hematology, lipid profile, liver enzymes and kidney function test except for the raised white blood cells, platelet levels, serum calcium, CPK, CK-MB, triglycerides, VLDL, direct bilirubin in both groups. Histopathology of stomach and kidney tissues revealed no toxicity as compared to the control group whereas; slight toxicity was observed in liver and heart tissues. Conclusion: Our research work revealed the significance of carrying out blood, biochemical and histo-pathological investigations to study the effects produced by low dose of A. mellifica administered for the long time. Partial protective effects of A. mellifica extract observed may be due to potent anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of its active constituents.Â

INFLUENCE OF FORMULATION FACTORS ON THE SIZE OF NANOSTRUCTURED LIPID CARRIERS AND NANOEMULSIONS PREPARED BY HIGH SHEAR HOMOGENIZATION
Objective: The main purpose of this work was to elucidate the effect of certain formulation factors on the size of nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) and nanoemulsions (NEs) by using high shear homogenization method.Me...
SUB-LETHAL TOXICITY OF POTASSIUM CYANIDE ON NILE TILAPIA (OREOCHROMIS NILOTICUS): BIOCHEMICAL RESPONSE
Objective: The present study was carried out to investigate the influences of sublethal toxicity of potassium cyanide (KCN) exposure to Oreochromis niloticus with special reference to blood biochemistry. Methods: Three gr...
ANTI-OXIDATIVE, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-ATHEROSCLEROTIC EFFECT OF TAURINE ON HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA INDUCED ATHEROSCLEROTIC RATS
Objective: The present study evaluates the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-atherosclerotic potency of taurine (2-amino ethane sulfonic acid) when administered orally to hypercholesterolemia induced atheroscleroti...
LIGNAN DERIVATIVES POTENTIAL AS PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE INHIBITORS: MOLECULAR DOCKING APPROACH OF ANTIPLASMODIAL DRUG DESIGN
Objectives: To investigate the lignan derivatives potential as Plasmodium falciparum Lactate Dehydrogenase (PfLDH) inhibitors by using Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD) and molecular docking approach. Methods: In finding...
DOCKING AND CYTOTOXICITY STUDIES OF 2-VINYLCHROMONE DERIVATIVES ON HUMAN BREAST CANCER CELL LINES
Objective: Estrogen receptor (ER) is over-expressed in 70% of breast cancers. The ER has two isoforms, ERα and ERβ. The ER ligand binding domain (LBD) has been the target for hormone-responsive breast cancer. Due to ti...
