EFFECTS OF ARSENIC INDUCED TOXICOSIS (ARSENICOSIS) ON HUMAN HEALTH (REVIEW)

Abstract

Arsenic is one of the most serious global environmental toxicants due to extensive contamination of ground water, and causes carcinogenicity and other chronic diseases to millions of peoples as well animals. Arsenic contamination is wide spread due to geologic and anthropogenic activities. Long term arsenic induced toxicity can lead to developed arsenicosis, which in turn associated with skin lesions, hepatomegaly, spleenomegaly, cognitive impairments, cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hepatic fibrosis, and neurological, hematologic, respiratory, immunological, endocrine disorder, and multiple cancer.
