Effects of Family Relationships on Adolescents Self-Control and Self-Efficacy

Abstract

The purpose of thisstudyis to determineeffects of familyrelationships on adolescents selfcontrol and self-efficacy. A total of 318 adolescentsresiding in Johor, Malaysiawereinvolved in thisstudy. The resultsrevealedthatfamily communication has significantrelationshipwithself-control whilefamilycohesionisassociatedwith self-efficacy of adolescents. The studyconcludesthatfamilyrelationshipsplay an important role in adolescents personalcompetences. Furtherresearchisnecessary to investigatewhethertheserelationships are upheld over time withextended the populations to otherregions.
