EFFET DE LA COMBINAISON FLOCULATION – ADSORPTION SUR LA QUALITE D'EAUX NATURELLES EFFECT OF FLOCCULATION – ADSORPTION STEPS ON THE NATURAL WATERS QUALITY

Abstract
L'objectif de cette étude est de présenter les principaux résultats d'essais visant à mieux appréhender la mise en œuvre de la combinaison floculation au sulfate d'aluminium et l'adsorption sur une argile bentonitique au cours du traitement d'eaux naturelles. Les essais se sont déroulés d'une part sur des solutions synthétiques de composés organiques, et d'autre part sur deux eaux de surface algériennes de caractéristiques physico-chimiques différentes. L'incidence d'une préoxydation au chlore sur l'efficacité de la floculation – adsorption a été également observée, par rapport à la formation potentielle de trihalométhanes ainsi qu'à l'élimination de leurs précurseurs organiques. Les essais en solutions synthétiques en substances humiques ont pu montrer que l'emploi de la bentonite n'est intéressant qu'en milieu minéralisé. Les doses optimales de bentonite utilisées conjointement au sulfate d'aluminium sont apparues en eaux de surface inférieures à celles en solutions synthétiques. La combinaison des deux procédés floculation – adsorption a ainsi permis d'améliorer notablement les rendements d'élimination de la matière organique. L'emploi de la bentonite a pu également induire une réduction non négligeable des trihalométhanes formés après chloration et une baisse des demandes en chlore pour les eaux considérées.
