Efficiency of Planetary Gear Trains as Criterion for Optimal Solution Selection
Journal Title: Machine Design - Year 2018, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
Efficiency is one of the important criteria for the design and evaluation of the construction quality. Power losses in planetary transmissions consist of losses in the gear contact, losses in bearings, losses in sealings, losses due to oil viscosity etc.The calculation of the gear transmission efficiency is generally confined to losses depending on friction on tooth sides, i.e. on the calculation of contact power losses. Nevertheless, it is not suitable for using efficiency as only criterion for optimal solution choice, but as a one of the set of criteria. The objective of this paper, is the application of multicriteria optimization to the planetary gear trains with efficiency as one of the criteria. Apart the determination of the set of the Pareto optimal solutions, the weighted coefficient method for choosing an optimal solution from this set is included in order to prioritize particular criterion.

Spur Gear Design Streamlined
A design approach is presented that synthesizes spur gear design theory and practice into a coherent and systematic method. Simplification is achieved through reformulation of stress capacity models which is based on the...
The Conceptual Design of a Mobile Hydraulic Platform
The subject of this paper is the definition of the conceptual design of a mobile hydraulic platform. The hydraulic platform is a self-propelled machine that allows access to less accessible places, sensitive surfaces and...
Cavitation Erosion Behavior of Some Gas Nitrated Steels
Older researches, conducted by Garcia and Hammitt (published in 1960) showed that hardness is an important factor in increasing the resistance of the surfaces exposed to cavitation erosion. As a result, in present more a...
Comparative Analysis of Power Transmission Gearboxes with High Gear Ratios
In modern industrial practice, there is a growing need for power transmission gearboxes with high gear ratios. Until a few decades ago this requirement was solved using conventional gear types (cylindrical, bevel, worm a...
Geometry of Human Body Model Used for Simulation of Thermal Comfort in an Agricultural Vehicle
In order to investigate thermal conditions inside a vehicle cabin, some kind of human body model is necessary. Apart from the chosen thermal sensation model, the model of the human body must have an appropriate geometry...
