Efficient Lossless Colour Image Compression Using Run Length Encoding and Special Character Replacement
Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 7
Abstract
Image compression, in the present context of heavy network traffic, is going through major research and development. The lossless compression techniques, presently in practise, follow three basic paradigms – character repetition removal, frequency measurement-encoding and dictionary maintenance. In the proposed method, the character repetition removal and dictionary maintenance concepts were incorporated together. The output encoded file had yielded comparably better results than standard lossless image compression techniques. The proposed method had been tested on a series of continuous and discreet tone standard test images.

Improve Performance of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) in Data Warehouse
Extract, transform and load (ETL) is the core process of data integration and is typically associated with data warehousing. ETL tools extract data from a chosen source, transform it into new formats according to busines...
Algorithm for Efficient Multilevel Association Rule Mining
over the years, a variety of algorithms for finding frequent item sets in very large transaction databases have been developed. The problems of finding frequent item sets are basic in multi level association rule mining,...
Implementing Ant Colony Optimization for Test Case Selection and Prioritization
Regression Testing is an inevitable and a very costly activity to be performed, often in a time and resource constrained environment. Thus we use techniques like Test Case Selection and Prioritization, to select and prio...
A Comparative Study of Machine Learning Approaches- SVM and LS-SVM using a Web Search Engine Based Application
Semantic similarity refers to the concept by which a set of documents or words within the documents are assigned a weight based on their meaning. The accurate measurement of such similarity plays important roles in Natur...
Position-Based Clustering: An Energy-Efficient Clustering Hierarchy for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks
A clustering algorithm is a key technique used to increase the scalability and lifetime of the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In this paper, we propose and evaluate a distributed energy-efficient clustering algorithm f...
