EHV Transmission Line Capacity Enhancement through Increase in SIL Level

Abstract

This is a review paper based on EHV transmission line capacity enhancement through increase in SIL Surge impedance loading level. EHV transmission lines are being implemented to increase the transmission efficiency. For the better utilization of electric power capacity of transmission lines should be improved. The power that can be transmitted depends on thermal limits and stability SIL limits. Capacity of a long EHV transmission line is limited by its surge impedance loading limit. By increasing SIL level of a EHV transmission line capacity of transmission line can be enhanced. Surge impedance loading, various methods of improving SIL level and factors influencing SIL level are discussed in paper.
