Abstract
Paper discussed the expert system which is a modern tool to assist decision makers in making operational decisions on a sea-going vessel. Correct operation and automation of marine propulsion is one of the key issues for the safe and economical operation of the marine floating unit. This article presents the founding of an expert system for the rational handling of marine engines and to improve the conditions of its safe and ecological operation.
