El andar como práctica cotidiana de resistencia para inventar la ciudad

Journal Title: Revista Académica Estesis - Year 2022, Vol 1, Issue 13

Abstract

Living in a city today implies being subject to the accelerated pace of the production and consumption activities, established in westernized societies. The speed requirement prevents spending time while walking, a practice linked to the appropriation of the space that is inhabited. In this sense, the hypothesis proposed is that walking is an everyday act of resistance, through which the inhabitants participate in the construction of the city. Therefore, walking constitutes a poetic and political act. The argumentation resorts to the revision of theoretical references and to the analysis of some contemporary art proposals that explore the practice of walking as a procedure to invent the space, questioning the uses instituted in urbanization processes. In conclusion, walking allows us to rediscover everyday spaces and originates multiple stories from which the space makes sense.
