El Uso Propagandístico de la Ruina: Fotografías en la Prensa Asturiana (1930-1940)

Abstract
The discovery’s power of images opens a debate in our society, both past, and present and future. What came first, our iconic ability or our fear of it? Each visual medium has had (and has) a certain dominance over the viewer, which is inevitably influenced by its creator. In other words, the ideological character is something innate to the image. For this reason, the appearance of photography as a transmitting media reality supposes a full stop, by establishing it-self as the most truthful system of representation, proper and similar to the human eye itself. From here, the following article intends to reflect on the ideological use of war photographs in the Spanish press, specifically in Asturias, as well as their propaganda leverage by both sides.
