Electrical breakdown of aluminium oxide insulating layer electrical sub-assembly vehicles

Abstract

The thesis presents the basic applications of electrolytic oxide layers as insulator of electric winding of electromagnet and transformers and electric winding of cylinders used for steering the valve of combustion engines. The results of research describe the mechanism of avalanche breakdown of oxide layers anode produced on aluminum strip (Al99,5), designed for electric winding which steer the vehicle equipment and valve of combustion engines. The phenomena occurring in the oxide layer and surface layer of oxidized aluminum strip (Al99,5) where the avalanche breakdown occurred are described. Conical electrode was used to define precisely the place of layer destruction due to electric current flow. During the research measurements and registration of voltage and current curve were made to define the energy used to destroy the oxide layer. The amount of energy used during the avalanche breakdown is enough to melt both the oxide layer and micro volume of aluminum under the layer.
