Abstract
Elements of Sustainable Development in the Wood Sector. At present enterprises operating in the market increasingly often stress the growing importance of environmental factors due to the EU requirements emphasising the significance of environmental care to global needs. However, it is often difficult to meet the environmental requirements due to the economic conditions of companies. The aim of the study is to indicate the role of economic and environmental factors for wood-processing enterprises, to indicate relations between short-term and long-term economic and ecological expectations and to indicate the idea ofsustainable development as a chance to improve the relations between companies and the environment.
