Elimination the Dust from Factories Wastes in a Sustainable Manner

Journal Title: Libyan Journal of Engineering Science and Technology - Year 2024, Vol 4, Issue 1

Abstract

The tendency of countries to increase and strengthen their industry by building large factories to meet local needs and develop their economy has become urgent in this era. Nevertheless, some of these plants create an environmental problem, which is the emission of dust and toxic gases, which are harmful to humans, animals and plants. Since the process of filtration of these emissions is expensive, especially for those old factories that may need high cost to develop them with modern technologies. For example, some cement factories, asphalt concrete, and cement concrete plants in the Libyan state. This paper examines a simple, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly mechanism to eliminate the dust produced by most of the building material industries in which the furnaces are used for roasting the raw materials. In this study, inclined water tank used to filter the dust resulting from an asphalt concrete plant. The results were quite confident as the dust that was too much to be felt through breathing or looking was almost eliminated. This technique can be used in any factory that produces dust and steam loaded with fine materials. This technique is inexpensive, about 0.1% to 1.0% of the total factory cost. Moreover, this small cost can be reduced to almost 0%, and may increase the economic return to the plant if the fine materials that have been filtered by this technology are recycled, which is the case of the asphalt concrete. In so doing, it is a way that preserves the environment and by distinctively sustainable manner.
