Abstract
In this essay I reflect on the links between performance and state in an event promoted by a provincial dependence secretary in Santiago del Estero(Argentina). Through the description of forms of non-verbal communication and interpersonal gestural interactions, produced among state agents of different hierarchical ranks, I analyze actions in key contexts where the state is produced and reaffirmed. The purpose is to delineate how in micro-interactions state officials are gestated and hierarchies are (re)produced, based on an ethnographic analysis of the dimensions and ways in which the state is presented in everyday life. In this way, the focus will be on the way in which corporealities and emotions are generated as part of the performances of the state. The study I propose should be considered in terms of a double interest: on the one hand, because of my place as an anthropologist, and on the other, because of my experience as an employee of a state agency.
