EMERGENCY CARE FOR FOREIGN BODY OBSTRUCTION OF THE UPPER AIRWAY IN CHILDREN
Journal Title: International scientific journal Science and Innovation - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 12
Abstract
Foreign body obstruction of the upper airway (FBOUA) in children is one of the most critical emergency situations requiring immediate intervention. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), aspiration of foreign objects accounts for approximately 7% of all deaths among children under the age of 5. Despite advancements in medical techniques, the issue of foreign body aspiration in children remains highly relevant. Reports of diagnostic errors and fatal outcomes associated with this serious condition continue to emerge. Changes in social living conditions, behavior, and children’s lifestyles have introduced new types of foreign objects and mechanisms of aspiration.
