Empowerment of Women through SHG’s: An Analysis

Abstract

The status of women is connected with their economic position and status which depends on their participation in economic activities such as ability to assess credit, role in decision making in financial matters etc. Today, Empowerment of women is a subject of debate and discussion world over. The present paper addresses three aspects of women empowerment viz. Economic Empowerment, Social Empowerment and Political Empowerment through self help groups. The paper concludes that, after joining the SHG the women are politically, economically and socially empowered. This empowerment has enabled them to take control over their lives and their families.
