Enclosing roots of polynomial equations and their applications to iterative processes
Journal Title: Surveys in Mathematics and its Applications - Year 2009, Vol 4, Issue 0
Abstract
We introduce a special class of real recurrentpolynomials fn (n ≥ 1) of degree n,with unique positive roots sn, which are decreasingas n increases. The first root s1, as well asthe last one denoted by s∞ are expressed in closedform, and enclose all sn (n > 1). <BR>This technique is also used to find weaker than before[Kantorovich and Akilov, 1982] sufficient convergence conditions for some popular iterative processes converging to solutions of equations.

Some fixed point results in Menger spaces using a control function
Here we prove a probabilistic contraction mapping principle in Menger spaces. This is in line with research in fixed point theory using control functions which was initiated by Khan et al. [Bull. Austral. Math. Soc., 30(...
On certain Baskakov-Durrmeyer type operators
This paper is a study of the degree of approximation by the linear combinations of the derivatives of certain Durrmeyer type integral modification of the Baskakov operators in terms of the higher order modulus of smoothn...
Some Absolutely Continuous Representations of Function Algebras
In this paper we study some absolutely continuous representations of function algebras, which are weak ρ-spectral in the sense of [5] and [6], for a scalar ρ > 0. More precisely, we investigate certain conditions for...
Identifiability of the multivariate normal by the maximum and the minimum
In this paper, we have discussed theoretical problems in statistics on identification of parameters of a non-singular multi-variate normal when only either the distribution of the maximum or the distribution of the minim...
