Abstract
Energy consumption during teac wood thermal treatment. This paper focuses on energy consumption during teac wood thermal treatment in compliance with the ThermoWood process. The energy consumption during the process of thermal treatment was affected by the individual degrees of thermal modification, to wit 160 °C, 180 °C and 210 °C. Energy performance of thermal modification is also impacted by the moisture content of wood. In order to minimize the impact of this parameter, the wood we used for this test was dried in a hot air kiln. Since the teac wood is not a usual wood species treated by ThermoWood process, we had to develop a proper drying-kiln schedule for this research. The energy consumption of the thermal treatment of teac wood was proven to be lower than for wood species commonly thermally modified.
