ENERGY POLICIES AND INTERESTS IN THE CASPIAN SEA AREA

Journal Title: Impact Strategic - Year 2006, Vol 18, Issue 1

Abstract

The first part of the article reviews the strategic relevance of the Caspian Sea area, starting with the issue of energy resources and describing the parameters of a great strategic game in the area. The second part of the paper focuses on the profiles if the confronting actors that in the area, ranging from national states to international organizations. An important part of the paper reviews the interests and strategies of the main players that have strategic roles in the area: the US, the Russian Federation and the European Union. The final part deals with conclusions.
