Enhanced Magnetic Squareness in Manganese-Bismuth Mechanical Alloys Incorporating Magnesium Oxide
Journal Title: Materials Science-Medžiagotyra - Year 2019, Vol 25, Issue 2
Abstract
Manganese-bismuth (MnBi) mechanical alloys have been under development for novel permanent magnets without rare-earth elements. The ball-milling of bismuth (III) oxide and manganese powders in this work leads to soft magnetic MnBi alloys with rod-like MnO impurity and highly unbalanced compositions. Interestingly, the introduction of magnesium (Mg) as reducing element during the milling gives rise to unique magnetic properties. The obtained MnBi alloys incorporating plate-like MgO has an enhanced magnetic squareness but minimal coercive field. The magnetic squareness remains high after the heat treatment and washing. The washing in ammonia also brings about a balanced composition between Mn and Bi.

Preparation and Electrochemical Testing of Polyaniline (PANI) Nanoparticles with Uniform Morphology and Good Dispersion in a Water-task-specific Ionic Liquid Medium
Polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles with uniform morphology and good dispersion were prepared by using the task-specific Ionic Liquid (IL) 1-ester-3-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([EAMIM]BF4) as a soft template by ch...
Milling Processes and Hydrogen Storage Properties of Mg-Graphene Composites
Graphene was chosen as an additive to improve the hydrogen uptake and release properties of magnesium (Mg). Five weight percent of graphene was added to Mg or pre-milled Mg by milling in hydrogen (reactive milling). The...
Experimental Study on the Thermal Decomposition of Two Nitrocellulose Mixtures in Different Forms
In order to ensure the safety of nitrocellulose (NC) mixtures in storage, transportation and usage, it is necessary to study the thermal stability of NC mixtures. In the present study, the thermal decomposition of two co...
