Entrepreneurship: society and resource management. A review of current scientific trends

Journal Title: European Journal of Management Issues - Year 2016, Vol 24, Issue 6

Abstract

This paper is a part of larger academic literature analysis on entrepreneurship and the related academic research trends. The main goal of this paper is to provide an overview of the recent international academic literature on entrepreneurship with a focus on the facets of individual and society and resource management. In order to provide a comprehensive overview, we sorted 100 recent academic articles in the following categories: individuals, economics, theories, networking, failure, opportunities, intrapreneurship, strategy, resource management, and family firms. This paper focuses on the current definition of entrepreneurship and its facets of individuals and society and resource management. The analyzed articles offer insights for future studies and we also offer our suggestions on further topics for academic research. Our research exposes that the old common conception that an entrepreneur is ultimately born and not created, is simply not true. While it has been almost 200 years since the concept of an entrepreneur has emanated, our assumption that the field has developed drastically, especially since entrepreneurship nowadays holds a central role in the economy, is clear as any economy is built on the backs of small and midsized businesses and their innovativeness. With such importance we look at what is considered the most widely accepted, modern interpretation of entrepreneurship by academics in academic journals. Moreover, we introduce an overview of the recent research trends in two facets concerned with entrepreneurship: individual and society and resource management.
