EROSION-ACCRETION SYSTEM OF SOUTH BALTIC COAST DURING THE LAST 100 YEARS

Abstract
Changes of the Polish coastline during three periods: 1875 - 1979, 1960- 1983 and 1971 - 1983 were measured by means of cartometric investigations. The determined in this way changes of position of coastline (and for 1960- 1983 of dune foot) allowed defining accumulative and erosive forms of various length along the Polish seacoast.The alternating sequence of erosive bays and accumulative protrusions along the coast shows that there exists an erosion-accretion system, and allows to define the trends of change and scale of variability of distinguished elements of the system during the last 100 years. Obtained results allow also to forecast the changes of given elements of the coastal system.
