Estimating the Project's Utility by Means of Harmonization Theory
Journal Title: Journal of Applied Quantitative Methods - Year 2009, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper is a generalization of our previous publications [2,19-20] where some newly developed models of the harmonization theory, together with various practical applications, have been outlined. The goal of the paper under consideration is to describe in depth both the general concepts of the harmonization theory and the fitness of the latter by citing an example from a widely used class of stochastic network projects (PERT-COST models). Harmonization theory is a multi-parametric optimization model in order to maximize the system's utility as a generalized quality measure of the system's functioning. We have implemented all the principles of the developed theory in a PERT-COST project and have outlined all the mechanisms to evaluate the project's utility. A numerical example is presented.

Semi-Markov Reliability Model of the Cold Standby System
The semi-Markov reliability model of the cold standby system with renewal is presented in the paper. The model is some modification of the model that was considered by Barlow & Proshan (1965), Brodi & Pogosian (1...

Universities are by their nature learning based organizations. They deliver knowledge to students through teaching processes. Students acquire knowledge through learning processes, from their professors and from other di...
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND DISASTER FACTORS IN BANGLADESH
Environmental pollution is one of the important problems for the living beings. It interrupts to lead better life. The present study is an attempt to study the environmental awareness and behavior towards the environment...
Issues and Procedures in Adopting Structural Equation Modeling Technique
When applying structural equation modeling (SEM) technique for analytical procedures, various issues are involved. These issues may concern sample size, overall fit indices and approach. Initiates of SEM may find it some...
A STEP-WISE METHOD FOR EVALUATION OF DIFFERENTIAL ITEM FUNCTIONING
Item bias or differential item functioning (DIF) has an important impact on the fairness of psychological and educational testing. In this paper, DIF is seen as a lack of fit to an item response (IRT) model. Inferences a...
