ESTUARIA POLSKIEJ STREFY PRZYBRZENEJ BAŁTYKU

Abstract
Estuaria sa dynamicznymi ekosystemami o bardzo dużej i ciagłej zmiennosci gradientów fizykochemicznych i parametrów biologicznych. Znaczne fluktuacje w poziomie zasolenia, temperatury, tlenu, pH, steżenia nutrientów oraz materii organicznej sa naturalnym zjawiskiem w tych zbiornikach wodnych. Polskie Wybrzeże Bałtyckie obfituje w wiele form typu estuariowego, poczawszy od zatopionych zatok w otwartym morzu (Zatoka Gdanska i Zatoka Pomorska) do zbiorników majacych stałe połaczenie z morzem (jezioro Łebsko) lub okresowo zamknietych i przez kanały lub ujsciowe odcinki rzek kontaktujacych sie z morzem (jeziora Jamno i Gardno). Cechy estuariów wykazuja również ujscia wielkich rzek jak Odra i Wisła. Estuaria pełnia bardzo ważna funkcje jako swoiste naturalne filtry dla różnych zwiazków chemicznych zawartych w przepływajacej wodzie. Tworzac skuteczna strefe buforowa uniemożliwiaja przedostawanie sie wielu substancji biologicznie toksycznych do morza.
