Journal Title: Revista Peruana de Medicina Experimental y Salud Publica - Year 2007, Vol 24, Issue 1

Abstract

The progress of the medicine is had due to research development. In this scenario, and involved in the anxiety of find answers to his own questions, we find the researcher that had consciously or unconsciously trampled the human being interests, fact that gave origin to the research ethics international documents. In all this controversial and noisy cases, the involved subjects were vulnerable people. In this group we can include ethnic minorities, like the indigenous, aboriginal or native communities that are a large group at andine region and amazonic jungle of our country. In the face of this reality, to perform an ethical and scientific valid research, we have to try answer the following questions: Is it ethical to research not prevalent or not beneficial problems with native communities? ¿What risks are probable to happen during the research with a native community? How the informed consent process has to be designed? Whom we ask to sign consent? What are the benefits that native communities may have during research and after it? Is it ethical to take advantage of the research biological samples of a native community to look for another problems that were not asked before at original informed consent? Should a standard native communities research guide be created?
