Abstract

Adsorption is a promising technique due to the ease of use and low cost compared to other applications in the fading process, especially if the adsorbent is inexpensive and readily available. The dyes used in our study were obtained from commercial products. We proposed to apply the adsorption process on a natural material containing a mixture of three dyes, brilliant blue (E133), yellow (E102) and cochineal red (E124). The adsorbent material chosen is a food product, egg shells. The adsorption tests were conducted in batch mode; It was found that the adsorption capacity is influenced by various parameters related to the system adsorbat/ adsorbent. According to the correlation coefficients r2 (r2> 0.99), the experimental data fitted very well the pseudo second order kinetic model and also followed by Elovich model, The results show that the sorption capacity increases with an increase in solution dye concentration. Similarly, we applied the model to the experimental results of internal diffusion (Weber and Morris model) to determine the reaction mechanism that governed the adsorption of various dyes. It was found that the diffusion step does not control the rate of adsorption for the different dyes studied.
