EU policy towards the circular economy

Journal Title: VUZF - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 3

Abstract

The term circular economy appeared in the second half of the XXth century though the concept behind it is very old. It could be said, that it is related to the development of economic relations, however, it was left aside during the years of fast economic growth as a result of industrialization. The European Union realizes the importance of the gradual shift from linear to circular model and is putting a lot of efforts in that direction. The current paper aims at outlining certain basic tendencies of EU policy in that area.
