Abstract
The article examines the experience of the Institute of Police Assistants of the Estonian Republic. The feasibility of introducing in Ukraine an individual form of participation of the population with the police is substantiated. Describing the legislation of Estonia, which provides for an individual approach to involving citizens as police assistants, we note that the collective form of participation, which is enshrined in Ukraine, already creates barriers for the individual interaction of the population with law enforcement. Estonia's experience shows an integrated approach to addressing the issue of police interaction with the population through a range of balanced legal and organizational aspects.
